Choose Your Region
El Salvador is small — you can drive coast to coast in 3 hours. Your ideal base depends on lifestyle: San Salvador (urban, professional), La Libertad coast (beach, surf, Bitcoin community), Santa Ana (colonial, quiet, affordable), or mountain towns (cool climate, expat retreats). We help you visit and compare before committing.
Set Up Banking
Most expats use a mix of: (1) keeping a US bank account with low-fee ATM withdrawals (Charles Schwab, Wise), (2) opening a local Salvadoran account (Banco Agrícola or Davivienda are expat-friendly), and (3) Chivo Wallet for Bitcoin transactions. Full dollars are used everywhere — El Salvador has been USD since 2001.
Arrange Healthcare
Private healthcare in El Salvador is excellent quality at a fraction of US prices. A specialist visit is $20–$60. Hospital stays run $200–$800/night vs. $10,000+ in the US. Most expats use private clinics (Hospital de Diagnóstico, Médica Escalón are popular) and opt for international health insurance as a backup for major emergencies.
Find Your Home
This is where we come in. We'll shortlist properties matching your budget, give you virtual tours before you arrive, and accompany you in-person on viewing trips. We handle negotiations, title searches, and the purchase contract in both English and Spanish.
Handle Shipping & Arrival
Most expats fly in with checked bags and ship a container later (if needed). Household goods can be imported duty-free for new residents. We connect you with trusted shipping companies, help with import paperwork, and can have your home furnished and ready before you arrive.
